Movement Making: January 23 declared Maternal Health Day
Mom Congress
By Alice Lu (advocate from NJ) and Joy Burkhard
This week Congress and several states introduced/heard resolutions declaring January 23 Maternal Health Day. The trend was started by New Jersey in 2018, by the First Lady, Tammy Murphy (a speaker at Mom Congress 2019).
In 2020, Congress (introduced by Senator Cory Booker) and at least 3 other states followed suit:
Federal Resolution: S. Res. 479
New Jersey Senate Resolution 92
Pennsylvania Senate Resolution 7
Delaware House Concurrent Resolution 67
The Mom Congress team is excited to help you in your state delegations, to mobilize to introduce a similar resolution in your state next January.
*Stay tuned for information on how later this year.*
