Announcing the Newly Elected 2024 Board of Directors

Mom Congress

We are thrilled to introduce the newest members of the Board of Directors at Mom Congress, a pivotal group dedicated to shaping the future of our initiatives and advocating for mothers nationwide. Each board member brings a unique perspective and set of skills to our mission, strengthening our efforts to drive change and support for mothers across the United States.

  • Kacie Brady - With a dynamic background in media and event production, Kacie brings creativity and a keen sense of impactful storytelling to our board. Her experience in covering significant social movements adds a unique perspective to our efforts.

  • William Hudson, MPH - As Vice President for Public Health with Qualtrics, William brings extensive experience in healthcare management, including his past roles as COO and CFO for Harris County Public Health (HCPH), the local health agency for Harris County, Texas, the third most populous county in the United States.

  • Jennell Lynch, MA - Jennell brings a wealth of experience from her roles in public relations, global finance, and empowerment initiatives, particularly for working mothers. She has served as Vice President for the National Association of Investment Companies (NAIC) and previously worked as Deputy Press Secretary for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Her strategic and relational skills enhance our board's ability to support career women facing cultural and institutional barriers.

  • Danielle A. Melton, M.Ed. - With her extensive school administration and operations background, Danielle stands as a beacon of inspiration, impacting the lives of thousands of mothers globally through her leadership of MOTHERboard® and the Motherboard Foundation. She dedicates her efforts to educating and advocating for maternal well-being through platforms such as contributing to Forbes.com and her role as a correspondent for the NPR segment, FOCUS: Black Oklahoma.

  • Madison Scott, JD - Madison is a passionate maternal and mental health advocate with a career in health policy and development consulting. Since graduating from law school in 2021, Madison has dedicated her career to advancing equitable health policies that support mothers, families, and communities.

  • Shyrea Thompson - Shyrea, a former congressional staffer, is a leader in patient advocacy and health equity. She has founded organizations that bridge gaps and advance social change, focusing on empowering communities and promoting health equity, especially among women.

These board members join the following existing board members: Jeanette Contreras, Jasper Hendricks III, Sabrina Lopez, and Christine Michel Carter.

Joy Burkhard, Founder has stepped down from the board to tend to her family and the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health, the organization honored to form and incubate Mom Congress before its spin-off as an independent non-profit. 

Also, effective September 6, 2024, the following two officers were elected by the board.

  • Jasper Hendricks III was elected as Chair of the Board

  • Will Hudson, was elected as Treasurer

We are excited for the insights and leadership these distinguished individuals bring to Mom Congress. Their diverse experiences and dedicated advocacy are invaluable as we continue our work to support and empower mothers throughout their personal and professional lives.
