Equal Rights Amendment Addresses Constitutional Amendment: Women as Equals to Men

This past week, history was made in the U.S. House of Representatives with a bipartisan vote to pass a resolution (H.J. Res. 79) to remove the deadline from the preamble of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) because women are not recognized in our country's founding document, the Constitution, as fully equal to men under the law.
It was a vote for the American dream – for women to be on the same footing as everyone else in order to pursue our greatest potential.
Now that the house passed H.J.Res.79, it pushes the issue to the Senate, where Senators Ben Cardin (D-Maryland) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) have introduced a similar measure (S. Res.6).
